BAG 咖啡馆的设计始于一个矛盾：利用临时性的建造系统，来确立一种永久性的存在。项目位于利雅得的 Al Muhammadiyah 街区，这片租用的场地原有一家旧餐厅、一条得来速车道（drive-thru）和一个停车场。从历史遗产的角度来看，场地内没有任何值得保留的元素；而从经济角度来看，也没有任何东西值得拆除。
